Come on Ladies, Give Cricket a Go

Stirling County Cricket Club will be running a ladies section this summer at the glorious New Willamfield ground in Stirling.

The sessions are for all girls and women who are interested in giving cricket a go or indeed are looking for something to do during the long summer nights.  All coaching will be taken by fully qualified, experienced coaches.  If we can raise sufficient numbers then we intend playing friendly games against other ladies teams.

Don’t worry ladies if you have never tried cricket, it will be fun!  Training sessions will give you an idea of how to bat, bowl and field in a safe enjoyable manner.  Even if you have never played before, give it a go.

Stirling County Cricket Club are currently used by the National Senior Women’s team as their home base and see developing a ladies section paramount to their development as a growing club.

Training will start on Wednesday 5th May 6.30pm – 8pm at the cricket ground which is situated next to St. Modan’s High School, Forthbank Football Stadium and The Peak, so it’s relatively easy to find.

The clubhouse has spectacular views of the Ochils, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, so come down and see the view for yourself.  The clubhouse has a range of facilities including a fully stocked bar area!

Winter Nets 2010

As you are no doubt thrilled to hear, it is almost time to yet again brave the cold, risk injury and remember just how bad you batting technique actually is! In case you don't know what I'm talking about, winter nets are about to begin and the club would like to encourage everyone to make as many of these sessions as possible. Details are below...

Venue: Dollar Acdemy
Time: 1pm-3pm
Start Date: 31 January 2010
End Date: 28 March 2010

The Clubhouse Hit by Bad Weather

December 2009 has been so cold that we've had some burst water pipes in the kitchen area. Not exactly what we wanted for Christmas but one of the many hazzards that have to be taken care of as part of the operational aspect of the club. As you might imagine, this has made quite a mess and will take some while for us to get sorted, but sort it we will.

As it happens, we are going to have to make some changes to the kitchen access anyway following the new licensing laws that have come into play in Scotland. In order to comply we are going to have to block the access from the kitchen to the bar area in order to isolate the bar for permitted users only. The front of the kitchen where the shutter is will be modified to provide access to the kitchen from the main clubroom instead.

2009 AGM Update

As part of our goal of providing better information about the club to our members and non-members, we will be providing a regular newsletter on this site and will post to those members who do not have access to the Internet. Content will be gleaned from various places such as the sub-committees, use of the ground by the Scottish Ladies team, Cricket Scotland and other organisations that make use of the Club's facilities.

We welcome any content that our members may feel worthwhile presenting, in particular from our Junior section either directly or via the parents. Don't be shy, let us know of any worthy news items to add.
