November 2010:

November 2010:
Stirling Sports Awards: Stirling County Ladies were awarded ‘Sports Team of the Year 2010’ at a spectacular Sports gala at Stirling Castle.  The venue was stunning, the standard of sporting achievement across Stirling was phenomenal and the girls were honoured to be nominated.  Alison collected the prize on behalf of the Stirling Ladies Team, acknowledging all of the girls in the club for their energy and enthusiasm with a special thanks to Kari Anderson – the inspiration and motivation behind our successful year!

Borders: 6–aside Indoor ‘hardball’ Tournament: After just 3 wee hours of indoor training, Stirling Ladies had the opportunity to participate in their first indoor tournament. Reading the rules on the journey down was cutting it a little fine, but the support and encouragement for and from all of the teams, made the event a great success and a fabulous learning opportunity!  The girls won one game and lost two, making friends along the way.  Being ‘out’ for hitting the ball into the crowd watching from the  balcony seemed harsh, but more than one of the team discovered a talent for that!  Mandy did a great job behind the stumps and Morven took a stunning wicket from one of the Senior Scotland Squad!   There are a number of other indoor events planned over the winter season and everyone is looking forward to our next one.

October 2010:

Winter nets provides a great opportunity to learn
about the ‘Indoor game’ as well as develop skills and technique for the outdoor game.  New members are welcome and if you're interested in coming along or looking for more information, please get in touch: email us here

‘Lords Taverners Bag’ of Goodies:  The club received a  donation of  brand new kit to ensure we were fully geared up and protected for the current indoor and forthcoming outdoor seasons.  The new resources are very much valued and Stirling Ladies want to extend a huge thank you to Lords Taverners for their generosity.

September 2010:
Scottish Ladies Cup Final:
After an amazing 2010 summer season, going from strength to strength (or wannabee’s to cricketers! -  19 out of the 22 women in club had never played cricket before the summer of 2010),  Stirling Ladies found success in winning the inaugural Scottish Cup.  The final game was played between an enthusiastic selection of lady cricketers from the West and East of Scotland, in the spirit of great sports(wo)manship and great fun.  While not the original plan for the day, many thanks go to all of those who attended and Lea Tsui and Cricket Scotland for organising and presenting this award.

Stirling County Cricket Club Annual Awards 2010:  The Ladies Team welcomed the opportunity to participate in their first Club Awards Night and received a very warm welcome from the Club Chairman on behalf of Stirling County Cricket Club. Captain/Coach Kari presented individual awards to:  Filza (Bowling), Alison (Batting) and Debbie (Fielding).  Kari’s efforts in contributing to the Club’s development through both Youth Coaching and the creation of the Ladies Team, was duly recognised with the award of the ‘Willie Little Trophy’.   Having discovered Cricket though, the ladies agree that they all feel like winners!

June 2010

Stirling County Ladies have taken to cricket like ducks to water!  With 15 ladies (& girls) attending weekly training sessions they are gearing up for the first match which is on the 27th June vs Western Women!  Not only do the ladies have 2 friendly fixtures vs Western and Corstorphine they also have 2 games in the Scottish cup to play against Ayr and Western Women.

Coaching on a Wednesday evening has been a great success with the club pro and amateur, Kresson & Craig throwing themselves into their coaching roles.  The basics have been covered already and we are now in the process of fine tuning the skills and techniques to prepare them for their first game.  Such is the demand and enjoyment from some of the team it looks like training is going to supplemented with an additional session on a Friday evening!

We are still on the look out for new members so if anyone is interested in giving cricket a go contact ladiescricket@stirlingcountycc.co.uk.  No previous experience is necessary.

Come on Ladies, Give Cricket a Go

Stirling County Cricket Club is running a ladies section this summer at the glorious New Willamfield ground in Stirling.

The sessions are for all girls and women who are interested in giving cricket a go or indeed are looking for something to do during the long summer nights.  All coaching will be taken by fully qualified, experienced coaches.  If we can raise sufficient numbers then we intend playing friendly games against other ladies teams.

Don’t worry ladies if you have never tried cricket, it will be fun!  Training sessions will give you an idea of how to bat, bowl and field in a safe enjoyable manner.  Even if you have never played before, give it a go.

Stirling County Cricket Club are currently used by the National Senior Women’s team as their home base and see developing a ladies section paramount to their development as a growing club.

Training started on Wednesday 5th May 6.30pm – 8pm at the cricket ground which is situated next to St. Modan’s High School, Forthbank Football Stadium and The Peak, so it’s relatively easy to find.

The clubhouse has spectacular views of the Ochils, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, so come down and see the view for yourself.  The clubhouse has a range of facilities including a fully stocked bar area!
