All Players - yes, that's you, read on ......
You may or may not be aware of how successful the club has been at recruiting youngsters from a very young age through to the under 15's who we want to get involved in the senior teams. There is a small but growing band of organisers, coaches and helpers who put a huge amount of effort into working with the youngsters, enjoying themselves in the process, but we need your help. We're not asking that every player comes to every session but we'd like to see some volunteering to help the likes of Stuart Keys who runs the Kwik Cricket side, Raymond Bond and fellow coaches, who take on the hard ball transition group and older hard ball players.
Please try and find some occassions to spare a couple of hours on a Monday and possibly other evenings to help out. You never know, you may get hooked and want to get some coaching qualifications, which will be paid for. Kreeson and the newly arrived Obaid are actively involved and have great fun together with Sean ,Morven ,Mark ,Angus and Matthew and a few others when they're available. The kids would be thrilled to see the senior cricketers helping out and taking part in their training sessions.
Just have a word with Jon T, John H, Stuart, .Sean, Kari, Morven ,Ally and get involved.
Coaching changes
As the 2010 season is about to get under way, the club has been actively reviewing our coaching set-up for the season. This has been made quite difficult as we have experienced some injury problems with our intended professional and coach for the season. Because of this, our decision has been to go for a young South African player together with a new Overseas Amateur, both of who are level 2 qualified coaches and will join our growing team of coaching staff.
Over the last couple of years it has become clear that the club needs to strengthen the coaching set-up by providing a better, organisational structure especially for the senior training nights and for the development of our young and talented players. For this reason we are delighted to announce that Jon Taylor has agreed to take on this organisational role. Apart from very new members, everyone at the club knows Jon and his keeness and enthusiasm both on and off the pitch.
Jon has a particularly good quality for this role, a very loud voice! The role is new and it will take us a while to ensure that it is working properly but the main thrust is to ensure that the coaching staff can get on with their jobs of coaching players at whatever level. Jon will ensure that the coaching sessions are run in a manner that maximises the benefits to all players and allows the coaches to concentrate on specific disciplines.
This means that training nights will be more organised and less chaotic but everyone that turns up for training must do their bit to make the sessions as productive as possible. The sessions will be led and monitored by the coaching staff and it is the club's intention that they control all of the activities in progress. Players will be expected to take note of what they are asked to do and participate fully much like any other sports training sessions. In particular we want to ensure that all participants turn up on time to avoid disruption to the sessions.
Jon will also be liaising with the Junior section of the club to help ensure that our coaching staff are fully engaged with every aspect of its development.
