Outdoor Training 2017 - UPDATED

The clocks go forward this Sunday, which can only mean that our indoor pre-season preparations are coming to an end and we're almost ready to make the move to outdoor practice ahead of a busy summer of cricket.

Our Senior training sessions have been taking place under the watchful eye of coach Ian Shaw at Dollar Academy over the last seven weeks, with one session remaining this Sunday (March 26th) from 12-2pm. Following the completion of this session, we will begin our outdoor training sessions on Thursday 6th April from 6.15pm-dark. Thereafter, training will run every Tuesday and Thursday evening in the same time slot and will continue to be led by Ian Shaw.

The Ladies have now finished their indoor training sessions, which had been held at St Modan's High School on Friday evenings. As well as training, the Ladies have had another productive selection of indoor tournaments with many noteable performances and performees, including victory in their latest event held in Dumfries. The Ladies will begin their outdoor training on Friday 14th April from 6.15pm and you can follow the Ladies on Twitter using the handle @sccladies for more informaton, including games, training and other activites.

Our Juniors have been running two sets of training sessions throughout the winter.
Firstly, our KwikCricketers have been attending sessions at St Modan's High School both before and after the Christmas period. These have been incredibly well attended and successfully run by Nick Mackay and his team of volunteers, from some of our older Juniors to Senior players. There are still two softball sessions to go, one this evening (March 24th) and one next Friday evening (March 31st) in the usual time slot of 5-6pm.
Following the Christmas break, our hardball Juniors have been training at Dollar Academy on Saturday afternoons from 3-5pm, with one more session left tomorrow (March 25th). Again, these have been well attended and we are grateful to all of our coaches and volunteers who give up their Saturday afternoons to make these happen.
Following the completion of these programmes, the next date in the calendar for our Juniors (and their parents!) is our annual Junior Welcome Day which, this year, takes place on Sunday 9th April. Following this event, Junior training will recommence from Friday 21st April and this year all age groups will train on the same evening. Our Kwik Cricketers will train from 6.15pm-7.15pm while the hardballers will be on from 6.15-7.45pm. You can also follow all things Junior cricket at New Williamfield on Twitter using the handle @countypups.

As you can see, it's been a busy winter of cricket and this shows no signs of letting up as we head in to the summer. We look forward to welcoming you all back to New Williamfield as we continue to grow as a club.

Come on you Doggies!
