Club Statement: Coronavirus, Cricket Cub Activities and Membership subscriptions
With the country currently in the grip of the coronavirus epidemic, and with all of us being asked to stay in our homes and minimise contact with others, members may be wondering how this will affect cricketing activities at Stirling County. In accordance with the advice of Cricket Scotland, we have already announced that all cricketing activities, including the use of the club’s training facilities, are suspended until June 1st at the very earliest. Further to this, the Club would also like to acknowledge the uncertainty that the current situation has created with regard to senior membership subscriptions for 2020, normally due from April 1st.
We have decided to postpone the collection of all senior subscriptions until further notice. We recognise that the opportunity for any cricket in 2020 will probably be severely limited, with the postponement of the season possibly continuing past the current June 1st date. As such, the likelihood of the club reducing this year’s subscription fees is quite high. However, with the current situation being so fluid, and reliable information so hard to come by, it is premature to make a definitive decision at present. When the situation becomes clearer about if and when we can resume our usual cricketing activities, the club will, of course, provide an update on how we plan to proceed with collecting membership subscriptions.
If the club does reduce membership fees for 2020, we would like to invite members, if they feel they can do so, to consider continuing to pay a full membership as a donation. Our membership fees don’t only go towards providing games and practice sessions, but are also vital in maintaining the club’s infrastructure that makes these activities possible. The club has many fixed and, therefore, unavoidable costs and, with revenue likely to be severely affected by the current situation, any extra assistance from our members, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
We recognise that some members pay by standing order, and that parents of some junior members have already paid. People are of course free to cancel standing orders if they wish. A statement concerning the particular issues of junior membership will be made as soon as possible.
