Club Statement: 2020 Junior Memberships
In a recent statement published on this site, the club announced that it would be postponing its collection of senior membership subscription fees. In this communiqué, we would like to give an update on the situation as it relates to junior membership subscriptions.
The junior subscription period begins at the start of the year, many junior fees have already been paid, and junior members have already had some benefits from their membership. The situation is therefore more complicated than that relating to senior fees. Because of the huge amounts of uncertainty about when some semblance of normal life will be resuming, let alone when and if Scottish cricket in 2020 will begin, we are not yet in a position to give definitive answers to all possible junior membership queries. We would, however, like to give the following advice and clarification.
- If you haven’t already paid your junior or family membership fees for 2020, please currently refrain from doing so until we can provide more definitive advice on this issue.
- Where junior membership fees are paid by standing order, people are of course free to cancel these.
- As we are currently in the early stages of the pandemic, and are only now just getting a better sense of the impact this is likely to have on our lives (and the ability to offer cricketing activities) for the foreseeable future, we are not in a position to make a definitive statement with regards to any reduction in fees at the present time. However, the high probability is that some sort of reduction of junior membership fees will be applied.
Subscriptions contribute not only to the running of cricket activities – matches and training – but also to the creation and maintenance of the club’s infrastructure that make such activities possible, and this needs to happen whether cricket is being played or not. We would invite all to consider whether they feel able, on a purely voluntary basis, either to continue with their standing order payments, or otherwise make a contribution towards the membership fee. If we subsequently reduce the fees for 2020, any additional voluntary contributions would be most gratefully received.
Like everyone else, Stirling County CC is currently at the mercy of events, along with the uncertainty that accompanies them. Therefore, we would be grateful if everyone could extend to us some extra patience on this matter as we continue to respond and adapt to the changing situation and the ongoing advice coming from the government and Cricket Scotland. We will, of course, continue to update the membership as and when there are clearer indications of when normal cricketing activities might be resumed.
