Junior Cricket Update - 15/7/2020

The club hopes that all its junior members and their parents have been keeping well and are keen to get back to cricket!  We would like to thank all those who have been in touch over the lockdown and those who have continued to pay their Membership in order to support the club through this difficult season.  It is much appreciated.
Following the publishing of the Scottish Government route map out of lockdown, we have been working with Cricket Scotland, our governing body, and Sport Scotland to put in place the relevant measures required to enable us to restart cricket training.  (Please note that there is currently NOT permission for matches to take place).
We are pleased to be able to announce that Junior cricket training will restart on Friday 24th July at the following times:
6pm-7pm: Kwiks and Junior 1s
7.30-8.30pm: Junior 2s and Junior 3s
This will be operated on a booking system initially.  This will allow us to strictly adhere to the 1 coach to 10 player ratio, ensuring that we have sufficient staff, equipment and space to cope with the numbers involved and also to ensure that, should the need arise, we are able to contact all involved in the event of someone testing positive for COVID19.
Please book here, at least 24 hours in advance using the following form:
As you might expect, things will look a little different from usual just now.  The kitchen and clubhouse will remain closed, APART FROM access to the toilets on a one-in/one-out basis.  The usual refreshments will NOT be provided at this time. And spectators are currently not permitted (exceptions: see below), so we encourage you to go do your shopping or go for a walk or sit in your car and listen to music during training.
Drop off and pick up your player promptly, no more than five minutes before and five minutes after your training time.  Brian, Junior Convenor, will be there to welcome your player.
Arrive changed and ready to start your session.
Use the hand sanitizer stations provided around the outside of the clubhouse prior to and following your training session, or bring your own.
Bring your own filled water bottle (the kitchen will not be available).
Clean your cricket equipment before you come and when you go home.  Equipment will be available as usual for those who do not have their own yet, which will have been cleaned by the coaches before the session.
Wait around.  Spectators are not permitted in the current guidelines UNLESS you feel that your child needs additional supervision.  We would expect that this would only apply to a very few Kwik Cricket players.  There is a half hour change-over for sessions to allow for physical distancing in the car park; waiting around will negate that change-over time.
We hope that these measures will help us to provide safe training for all players and for the coaches who volunteer their time and who are involved in a variety of key worker industries.
Players are NOT required to physically distance whilst they are on the pitch at training - in effect creating a training bubble with their coach - but once they step outside the boundary line at the end of training, then physical distancing is currently required for players over the age of 12 years.
Toilets ARE OPEN and cleaned regularly, but please go at home before you arrive which will help us to manage the numbers going into the clubhouse.
Junior members who have been shielding ARE permitted to join training, but this clearly is at the discretion of parents and carers and we are happy to discuss arrangements further should you wish to assure yourselves of the various safety measures in place.
Guests are currently NOT being invited, so please do not bring along friends and family to 'join in' as we are currently not able to accommodate them, although we hope with further lockdown easing that this will also be relaxed.
We hope that these various measures will enable us to restart Junior training safely and do so in a way that is in-line with the various Government and governing body regulations, regulations that, in due time, can be relaxed as the next phase of the route map is announced and that locally-arranged matches can take place.
As always, please do be in touch with questions and queries, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
