County player to embark on epic walk for MS charity
Stirling County's resident human foghorn, Louis Ware, is hoping to embark on a truly epic journey this summer. The SCCC 1st team batsman and Stirling University student is planning to undertake the monumental endeavour of walking the length of Britain from Lands End to John O'Groats! During this longest of walks, Louis is also planning scaling the three peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) and, if all that didn't seem enough of a challenge, he will also be wild camping along the way and will wear a kilt throughout!
Starting at the end of June 2021 (assuming that travelling restrictions don't preclude it), Louis will be walking to raise funds for the MS Society Charity and the excellent work the organisation does in the field of MS research and in helping current MS sufferers continue to live with, and adapt to, the challenges that the disease forces upon them. The fight against multiple sclerosis, a lifelong and often debilitating disease, is a personal one for Louis, whose granddad lived with the disease for several years until his recent passing just over a year ago.
If you want to support Louis and his eminently worthy cause, visit his JustGiving page and please pledge what ever you can!
As louis continues with his preparations over the next few months, and during the walk itself, we'll be looking to offer regular updates on his progress to give readers an insight into the challenges, hopes and fears that Louis will no doubt encounter as he prepares for, and then undertakes, what promises to be a challenging and hugely impressive feat.
