Stirling County Cricket Club has many teams playing in a variety of leagues across Scotland, catering for cricketers of all varieties and offering a variety of games and training opportunities throughout the week.
On Saturdays the club fields two teams in the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU). For 2020 the 1st XI will once again compete in the WDCU Premier Division, having competed against the best teams the West has to offer for the previous three years. Our 2nd XI, meanwhile, will play in the West’s Second Division (third tier) and will now have the chance to fight for promotion after a recent league restructuring.
If Saturday league cricket isn’t to your liking, or you simply want to play more than one game a week, then our Sunday or Wednesday teams may be just your thing. After a successful first few seasons, our Sunday XI will continue to play in the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union development league. The club aims to use these matches to help further develop youngsters, as well as give those who are still new to the game a chance to gain some match experience in a friendlier environment. As in previous seasons, the Wednesday XI plays t20 matches against other local sides in the West Stirlingshire League, a platform we have used to introduce our promising youngsters to competitive hardball cricket against adults.
Senior Training – The main senior team-based training session takes place every Thursday throughout the season from 6.15pm (Tuesdays now involve a more individual skills focused session). If you want to join the club or simply want to get a feel for what we’re about, please come along and join in.
